A cooking class in Valpolicella
An incredible day of genuine food and wine discover a cooking class in Valpolicella! The lesson will take place in Corte Borghetti winery in Marano di Valpolicella. The winery is an historical house of 16th century, in a peaceful location surrounded by vineyards. Barbara, the owner, a great host, will welcome you; her family is involved in the art of winemaking since many generations.
Our half-day cooking lesson is the best way to learn how to cook authentic Italian and Veronese recipes in an informal and friendly environment.
During the cooking lesson, you will create a full meal. Your teacher will provide you with an explanation on all recipes using traditional Italian cooking methods. Above all, the class is fully hands-on… are you ready to “get your hands dirty”?
Program of the cooking class in Valpolicella at Corte Borghetti
Once there the host Barbara will introduce you in her home and present the day’s menu. You will "get to work” in a kitchen inside the wine cellar. Everybody will cook all the courses with the help of the teacher. You will learn the basic skills necessary to prepare authentic Italian dishes. Moreover, all the ingredients are farm-to-table in order to support local producers. After a couple of hours of cooking you’ll enjoy the fruits of your work! Then you’ll have lunch combined with Corte Borghetti wines (Valpolicella, Valpolicella Ripasso and Amarone della Valpolicella). Barbara will describe their wines and, in case of interest, it will be possible to visit the wine cellar and vineyards. At the end of the tour you’ll receive the cookbook with recipes of the day.
The menu is (according to the season):
- Corn polenta with salami or mushrooms
- Fresh handmade pasta or gnocchi with tomato sauce
- Fogassa su la gradela (a traditional cake baked on the grill)

the tour leader, in respect of all the guests, will wait for you in case of late maximum for 15 minutes.
We want you to spend a lovely day with no distress so, please, in booking our tours, inform us if you have limited mobility (in some old cellars there are stairs); or if you have any intolerance or allergy about food/wine (some tours are including appetizers in the cellar or lunch in local restaurant).
We ask you to inform us if you have any appointment after the tour (if you booked a train ticket, an opera show in Arena or a reservation for a restaurant), so we can do our best to respect the schedule.
In the cellar the temperature is constant 15 Celsius degrees (59 Fahrenheit), so we suggest to take with you a sweater or a jacket; if it will be possible we will try to show you the vineyards, so it’s recommended to wear sneakers or comfortable shoes.
