Vigna '800 '800
Vigna ‘800 was founded in 2001 from Gianfranco Elampini‘s passion and a challenge: to produce fine wine using only grapes from his homeland, Valpolicella. We are located in Moron, a small hamlet in the municipality of Negrar, in the heart of the Valpolicella Classica region. Vigna ‘800 takes its name from an ancient engraved stone found on the property: “1799” represents the end of a century, the beginning of a new one, an era of transformation for society but not for winemaking techniques, which have been handed down to the present day.
Gianfranco’s commitment is to cultivate vines as they once did, as his father Gino taught him when they worked together in the fields. It is precisely this love for the land that led Gianfranco to embark on the journey of converting to organic farming, adopting the sowing of green manure to increase soil fertility and recreate a carpet of weeds and microfauna around the vines, thus protecting them and improving their quality from their roots. Being certified organic since 2016 means respecting the land, nature, and humanity, who return to experience the cycles of the seasons in perfect harmony and kindness.
Tasting a glass of wine at Vigna ‘800 isn’t just about drinking good wine, it’s about savoring the culture of authentic flavors, the love for the land, and the work of skilled hands that capture the story of a region, its origins, and its development in the glass.
Gianfranco enjoys meeting people and sharing his dream. Welcoming and making those who sit down to share traditional Venetian food and wine feel at home is his work and his passion. It takes time to share the story to understand that each wine is the story of a vineyard, with its unique microclimate and winemaking methods. It will be the wine itself that inspires the poetry of the moment, which will be forever etched in your memory.
