Lavagnoli winery winery
In the heart of the Valpolicella DOC region, specifically in the Pigozzo area of Val Squaranto, is placed Lavagnoli winery, a small winery that resolutely cares for a region that is, first and foremost, home to them. For nearly thirty years, Carlo and Miriam have tended their vineyards using training systems that combine tradition and experimentation, producing grapes of the highest quality. Until 2015, they sold their grapes entirely to third-party wineries.
In 2015, their son Andrea, supported by his brother Alberto, decided to take a big step and open a winery, just the second in the valley. The former agricultural machinery shed was emptied to make room for the stainless steel fermentation and storage tanks, while another smaller space was converted into a barrel room for the aging of red wines.
Andrea’s passion for his work and love for his land have inspired him to produce wines that are deeply rooted in the terroir, echoing the iconic wines of the Valpolicella DOC appellation, while also embracing other varietals that have been cultivated in the area for decades. Thus, in addition to the region’s DOC and DOCG wines, considerable space is given to experimentation, with the production of IGT wines that fully express the potential of the Val Squaranto terroir.
If you pass through the valley, the Lavagnoli family offers the traditional hospitality of the “Rame,” the homes where it was once possible to enter and ask for a flask of wine. In their cellar, don’t expect simple tastings, but rather opportunities for discussion and sharing, moments to breathe more deeply in the shade of the vines.
